This class will be Friday, November 11 at 9 a.m. at the Fiber Frolic Retreat

Whether you are knitting with self-striping yarn or a bag full of mini skeins, attached edgings are a wonderful way to change the direction of your stripes.   Thoughtfully placed vertical stripes add pizzazz to your knitting and flatter your figure.

Skill Level:  Adventurous Beginner and Intermediate Knitters.

Class time: 3 hours

Class size: maximum 15

In this class we will:

1. Learn a Cable Cast On.  This class will begin with a tutorial on the simple, useful cable cast on method.  I will share my tips for joining the cast on stitches to your work using a new color (Hello Rainbows!) while keeping your tension loose and even.

2. Learn to work a clean, eye-catching attached edging.  In this portion of the class, we will learn my favorite method for working a knitted-on border using a self-striping yarn or mini skeins.  I will share my tips for (1) creating a clean connection between the attached border and the rest of your garment; (2) keeping track of your stitch count; (3) matching your Bind Off tension with your Cast On and more!

3. Learn to pick up stitches along the edge of the attached border.  To end this class, I will show knitters ow to pick up stitches along the edge of an attached border.  This skill allows the knitter to add attached borders not only at the end of their knitting project, but also to the middle!

We will focus on a tidy method for an evenly distributed pick up.

SUPPLIES REQUIRED:   Your favorite skein of self-striping or gradient bundle or mini skeins, a contrasting yarn in fingering weight to match your bundle of colors (please bring all yarn wound and ready to knit) knitting needles appropriate for your yarn.

Homework:  None.
